Emerson Group cultivates “a work environment that is productive, energized, celebratory and fun,” says Bill Emerson. Another important tenet of the company’s culture is mutual trust. Employees are encouraged to make their own decisions, with Emerson Group’s core values in mind. This philosophy has paid off, as the company’s current team of 13 employees has a combined tenure of 103 years. Vacation time at Emerson Group increases over an employee’s time with the company, and sick and personal days are unlimited and not tracked. “We are very family-oriented and flexible with staff members who need to work around their personal schedules, run out to attend a school play, child’s doctor’s visit, or anything else they feel is important,” says Emerson.

The evening kicked off with a high-energy networking reception, complete with fun activities including pool, ping-pong, cornhole and foosball. The video-packed awards presentation celebrated Philadelphia’s top company cultures for fostering a creative, collaborative workplace that has helped them enhance employee performance and sustain a competitive advantage in the market.
