Passing of Emerson Group’s Founder, William “Skip” Emerson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Emerson Group’s founder, William “Skip” Emerson on August 22, 2018.  Skip was 87 and a longtime Moorestown, NJ resident.

In 1971 Skip and his wife Annette (nee Streeter) purchased a Dunhill Personnel franchise and immediately set out to become leaders in the staffing industry in South Jersey and Philadelphia.  In 1990 a second generation of the Emerson family, their son Bill, joined the business as an Executive Recruiter then stepped in as President when Annette and Skip retired in 1998.

Skip was the proud father of Stephen (Mary) of Moorestown, Douglas (Cecilia) of Boulder, Co., Matthew (Heather) of Anchorage, AK. and William (Annemarie) of Moorestown, NJ. Grandfather of Luke, Matthew, Rachel, Noah, William, Nicholas and Luke Matthew. Brother-in-law of Ellen Emerson of Richmond, Va., Margaret Evans of Syracuse, NY and The Rev. Dr. Richard Streeter and his wife Patricia of Paoli, Pa. Also survived by many loving, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Skip was born and raised in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Skip graduated from Syracuse University majoring in Pre-Law where he played basketball and varsity baseball. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army Security Agency during the Korean conflict attending Army Language School in Monterey, CA. studying Russian.  To read the full obituary, please click here

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tues. Sept. 18th at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 Bridgeboro Rd. Moorestown, NJ.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions could be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown or the Davis Phinney Parkinson Foundation, 4730 Table Mesa Drive, Suite J200, Boulder, Co. 80305.
