Emerson Group was a recipient at SmartCEO’s 2016 Company Culture Awards on December 13, 2016. More than 300 CEOs and decision-makers joined SmartCEO in honoring the 2016 Corporate Culture Award Winners at a fun-filled celebration. Emerson Group cultivates “a work environment that is productive, energized, celebratory and fun,” says Bill Emerson. Another important tenet of the company’s culture is mutual trust. Employees are encouraged to make their own decisions, with Emerson Group’s core values in mind. This philosophy has paid off, as the company’s current team of 13 employees has a combined tenure of 103 years. Vacation time at Emerson Group increases over an employee’s time with the company, and sick and personal days are unlimited and not tracked. “We are very family-oriented and flexible with staff members who need to work around their personal schedules, run out to attend a school play, child’s doctor’s visit, or anything else they feel is important,” says Emerson.

The evening kicked off with a high-energy networking reception, complete with fun activities including pool, ping-pong, cornhole and foosball. The video-packed awards presentation celebrated Philadelphia’s top company cultures for fostering a creative, collaborative workplace that has helped them enhance employee performance and sustain a competitive advantage in the market.
The Corporate Culture Awards program honors companies that foster a creative, collaborative workplace culture to enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage. Smart leaders understand that culture is a company’s greatest asset, driving performance and growth. What’s more, a successful culture is actively and intentionally cultivated and developed. Corporate Culture Awards winners will have championed for a positive, productive culture in their organization, and will have worked with employees to develop successful cultural practices. The final roster of winners will be chosen by an independent committee of local business leaders, profiled in SmartCEO magazine, and celebrated at a high-energy awards event.
