Emerson Group visited the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey #RMHSNJ last week. We prepared and served a meal for the families staying there. It was a wonderful night spent talking with the families and playing with the kids. If you are interested in doing the same, please visit their website for more details.
HOUSE HISTORY
Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey is located next to Cooper University Hospital and minutes away from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Shriners Hospital for Children and Wills Eye Institute. The house is equipped with everything you would expect to find in your own home including bedrooms, a kitchen and communal areas.
The first Ronald McDonald House in Camden was opened in 1983 with 10 family bedrooms. In 1998, they built a four-story brick building which now includes 25 spacious family bedroom suites, each with a unique theme, such as butterflies, a fire house, Sesame Street, LEGO, Sponge Bob and NASCAR.
Over the past three decades, they have served more than 24,000 families. Each year, approximately 800 families from around the world stayed while their children receive life-saving treatment at local hospitals.
